CCR Interfaces Will Change – Are you Ready?

If your system interfaces with Central Contractor Registration (CCR)/FedReg, Online Representations and Certifications Applications (ORCA), or Excluded Parties List System ( EPLS), the time to begin to prepare for change is NOW. These Integrated Acquisition Environment (IAE) systems will be migrating into IAE’s new System for Award Management (SAM) in 2012, and the extracts, and, therefore, your interfaces will change.
SAM will not be a portal to provide access to the legacy systems. Rather, it will be a new, integrated system, better than the sum of its legacy parts. The new product will have fewer interfaces, for a couple of reasons. For one, SAM will have one database and, as the legacy systems are migrated into SAM, they will be migrating to that single location. In addition, process-improvement work has identified ways to reduce the number of interfaces needed.
Certification of interfaces will be required. Certification will include a determination of the business need for the interface, testing, and a signed interface specification/ agreement. You will have the opportunity to participate in interface testing during all test phases, the first of which is expected to begin in fall 2011.
To help you prepare, we expect the detailed interface specifications to be available in June, but general information is online now at SAM.gov. The Interfaces Overview briefing available there will give you an idea of what you can expect.
